Metal Hammer: 3 Minutes With Babymetal (video)

A brief chat with the Japanese phenomenon

Last Saturday Babymetal played to a sold-out Brixton O2 Academy in what was only their third ever UK performance. But before they danced and partied all holy hell out of the 5000 strong crowd, we caught up with Su-metal, Yuimetal and Moametal to find out about the new album and the Fox God.

It’s hard to ignore the monumental success of Babymetal since their inception at Sonisphere this summer, so when we had the chance to meet up for a second time it was a no-brainer.

Here we talk to the three-girl tour de force about the experience of playing a metal festival, how Gimme Chocolate came together and how they’re planning on celebrating Christmas – seemingly by celebrating Su-metal’s birthday (which you know will be at last 60 times more bonkers than yours).

BABYMETAL play London on november 8 at Brixton O2 Academy

Metal Hammer just post this news: Fresh off a sold-out show at The Forum in London and a barnstorming main stage set at Sonisphere last month, the Japanese opinion-splitters BABYMETAL are coming back to the UK to headline Brixton O2 Academy.

BABYMETAL will return to the UK in November for their only remaining European show of 2014. The London stop of their World Tour 2014 – Who’s Ready For Round 2? – will be highly anticipated, after fans were treated to their first UK performance at Sonisphere Festival last month, with a select few also managing to get tickets to their sold out headline show at London’s Kentish Town Forum two days later.

A truly unique phenomenon, BABYMETAL broke out of their native Japan earlier this year as their video for single ‘Gimme Chocolate!!’ went viral worldwide, their inimitable blend of heavy metal and catchy pop demanding the attention of music fans everywhere.

The announcement comes off the back of a huge summer, which as well as seeing major festival appearances around Europe, also saw the band support pop superstar Lady Gaga on her recent US tour.

VIP ticket option available.

Tickets go on sale this Wednesday with VIP tickets also available here.
